Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park

The Black Canyon National Park is situated in the western portion of Colorado. It is also strictly managed and run by the acclaimed National Park Service. The park has 2 entrances, which would be the north rim and the south rim entrances. The north rim entrance is closed during the winter. It is also about 11 miles off the southern portion of Crawford. The south rim entrance, on the other hand, is situated 15 miles off the eastern portion of Montrose. It is also more developed than the north rim entrance.

The Canyon of the Gunnison River is stated to be about 48 miles long and 12 miles from this belongs to the Black Canyon National Park. Even so, the park has occupied the most dramatic and deepest section of this famous canyon. This is also amidst the fact that this canyon actually continues to go upstream to the
acclaimed Curecanti National Recreation Area, and downstream to the noted Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area.

There are various attractions you will find in this exciting park. One would be the actual scenic drive to the entrance in south rim. You will also find a campground in the area as well as a long stretch of miles for nature and hiking trails.

Though the north rim is more remote than the south rim, it can be accessible by car. You will find there a primitive small campground. You can also access the river through an unmaintained steep trail, which would take 4 hours of hiking downwards and 6 hours of hiking back.

Aside from this, the canyon also prides itself as a center for great rock climbing. The style preferred in this part would be the traditional climbing style. This is because the climbs seem difficult and advanced climbers are the ones who climb the area most of the time.
