Winter Park

Winter Park Town is situated in Colorado’s Grand County. It is also the home of the famous Winter Park Resort. According to the year 2000 census, Winter Park already has an estimated 662 residents. Winter Park is one of the many well-loved skiing destinations in Colorado.

Moreover, Winter Park Resort is actually owned by both the County and City of Denver. Intrawest is the one who manages the property. Thus, the D&RGW or Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad serves both the resort and the town through their Ski Train.

This would include the terrain parks, groomers, bumps, trees, steeps and the deeps. Winter Park Resort is also the one closest to the Denver International Airport. There are several individuals who gave significant contributions for the image and development of Winter Park as a ski area. The numerous ski trails found in Winter Park is also regarded as its Historical Trails. The people who made significant contributions would be Berrien Hughes, Allan R. Phipps, George Cranmer and Steve Bradley; along with Dick Mulligan, Jack Kendrick, Maury Flanagan and Retta Stanley. You can also include Robert Balch, George Engel, Bill ‘Waxy’ Wilson and Mary Jane to the list.
